Workforce Readiness Committee
The Northwest Ohio Human Resource Association (NOHRA) is committed to the development of the workforce throughout Northwest Ohio. We recognize that the economic viability of the region is based on the availability of a highly qualified workforce. To assist in this effort, NOHRA has a dedicated group of human resource professionals who support and prepare people as they prepare for employment in the region.
NOHRA is interested in supporting nearly any organization that is looking for workforce readiness support, we are focused on five primary populations.
- College/High school students
- Future HR professionals
- Veterans in transition
- People with disabilities
- Second-chance / Returning Citizens / Re-entering the workplace
- Long-term unemployed / In-transition
Our HR professionals are willing and able to provide the following services:
- Job search assistance
- Resume review and feedback
- Mock interviews
- Panel discussions
- Networking
- Job shadowing
We will also provide members of NOHRA with learning programs to help support and hire those in the populations listed above.

SHRM Certification Scholarship
THE PROGRAM
To promote NOHRA’s goals of advancing the profession and serving Human Resources professionals, this scholarship is designed to financially assist individuals interested in obtaining their SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP professional certification.
This program is managed by the NOHRA Board or its designee (e.g., Workforce Readiness Committee). Scholarship awards are provided without regard to race, color, national origin, sex, religion, age, or disability.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Must be an active NOHRA member.
- There is no specific minimum or maximum experience required to qualify for the scholarship. We are seeking individuals that perform HR/HR-related duties; or currently enrolled students pursuing a career in Human Resource Management.
- Ability to sit for the SHRM certification exam in the 2nd SHRM testing window of 2024 (December 1, 2024 – February 15, 2025).
AWARDS
NOHRA will award two (2) SHRM certification scholarships in 2024. The NOHRA Board will determine each fiscal year what the award amount(s) will be. The scholarships will each include the following:
- SHRM Online Learning System for SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP; must be purchased through NOHRA website ($605.00 value)
- Standard Exam Fee (up to $510.00)
- Enrollment in NOHRA SHRM Certification Fall Virtual Study Group every Wednesday evening from 6-9pm September 11 – November 20, 2024 ($50.00 value)
Scholarship recipients must register to sit for the exam in the 2nd SHRM testing window of 2024 (December 1, 2024 – February 15, 2025). Details to apply for and register for the SHRM exam can be found HERE.
Recipients will be reimbursed for out-of-pocket costs associated with the items included with the scholarship award above. Receipts will be required.
APPLICATION/SELECTION PROCESS
Students interested in applying for the SHRM certification scholarship should email Anita Santus, Workforce Readiness Chair, at asantus@jones-hamilton.com, the following information:
- Completed and signed application foundHERE.
- Professional resume summarizing education, work, and volunteer experience.
Award selection is based on a variety of factors including but not limited to:
- Evaluation of application
- NOHRA and SHRM membership strongly preferred
- A personal interview, if necessary
TIMELINE
- Registration is now open for 2024!
- Applications and all other materials due by 11:59pm, Wednesday, September 4, 2024, via email to Anita Santus at asantus@jones-hamilton.com.
- Recipients will be announced on the NOHRA Social Media outlets and contacted via email on Friday, September 6, 2024.
REVISION POLICY
The NOHRA Board is responsible for reviewing this program and has discretion to revise or terminate the program.
