President's Message
Welcome to Northwest Ohio Human Resource Association (NOHRA) and to 2022! I am honored to serve the NOHRA organization in this role. My Board of Directors and I have been hard at work planning programs that keep our members up to date of human resource trends. We’re navigating this every-changing landscape and welcome any feedback as to how we can better serve our members. Please feel free to reach out to me directly with any suggestions!
Our programs are centered around serving the needs of our members. Rest assured that our programs will be held with your health and safety in mind during these times. Meetings will be socially distanced with masks, hand sanitizer, and wipes available. Some of our goals for 2022 programs include: recruiting trends, employee retention, company culture, employment law updates, employee wellness, and diversity, equity, and inclusion, among others. Our meetings are held monthly at the Hilton Garden Inn at Levis Commons. Visit our website often to view the calendar of events and to register (www.toledoshrm.org). Follow the Northwest Ohio Human Resource Association on Facebook, LinkedIn, and Twitter to see posts reminding you of upcoming events!
Our 2022 Inclusion Conference is being planned for April and will be in partnership with the Toledo Chamber of Commerce. The conference will help leaders take steps to make inclusion a priority within their organizations. Area DEI experts are going to be brought together to provide our members with real life examples and strategies. More than ever, it’s time to not only talk about change, but to take great strides towards implementing those changes in 2022.
Our Workforce Readiness Committee continues to provide programs related to specific underserved segments of our communities including veterans, those with disabilities, the formerly incarcerated, and college and high school students. You can find more information about these events on NOHRA’s social media (LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter) and in NOHRA’s monthly emails. Don’t miss out on these programs to help our communities!
This summer we plan to hold the Annual NOHRA Golf Outing to benefit the Jim Vassar Foundation! This is a great networking opportunity and a long-standing tradition for NOHRA. This event and is for golfers and non-golfers alike!
On November 10, NOHRA and The Employers’ Association will hold THRAC (Toledo Human Resource Associations’ Conference). This conference brings together HR professionals from the Northwest Ohio and Southeastern Michigan areas to network with colleagues and learn from amazing speakers. Keep an eye on NOHRA and the EA’s social media pages for updates regarding the conference.
In this age of zoom calls and social distancing, I know many of us are missing opportunities to network with other HR professionals. With health and safety as a top priority, we will make networking a priority this year.
I hope you will join us this year as we advance our knowledge and look toward the future!
I look forward to seeing you all again soon! Please reach out if you have questions or want to get involved!
