President's Message
Dear friends and colleagues,
I am truly honored to serve as the new president of the Northwest Ohio Human Resources Association (NOHRA), and I want to begin by recognizing the outstanding work of our past presidents. Their leadership has set a strong foundation for our organization, and I am grateful for their vision and dedication to advancing the human resources profession here in Northwest Ohio. As we continue to grow and evolve, I look forward to building on their accomplishments with all of you.
As an affiliate of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), NOHRA is proud to serve HR professionals across all disciplines of human capital management. Together, we are part of a worldwide community of more than 300,000 HR professionals, each of us contributing to the success of our organizations and the well-being of the employees we support.
Whether you are a department of one looking to maximize your impact through education, certification, and mentorship, or a member of a large HR team refining policies based on the latest legislative changes, best practices, and trends, NOHRA offers invaluable opportunities to help you grow both personally and professionally.
I’m excited to share that last year, we achieved some incredible milestones—growing our membership, strengthening relationships with colleges and universities, and hosting a successful DEI conference and HR Summit, to name a few. These accomplishments are a direct reflection of the passion, collaboration, and hard work of our members, volunteers, and supporters. I want to thank each of you for being part of that success.
Looking ahead, this year promises even more exciting opportunities. We’ve planned an exciting slate of thoughtful discussions and learning experiences to help you navigate today’s rapidly changing HR landscape. From exploring employee experiences across different generations and populations to providing new tools for driving positive organizational change, there’s something for everyone. I encourage you to take full advantage of these resources and, of course, engage with your fellow members through networking and volunteering.
The strength of our chapter lies in the active participation of our members. If you’re curious about how to get involved, please reach out to any of our board members — they’d be happy to connect you with a community resource or volunteer opportunity. Whether you’re looking to develop new skills or simply give back to our profession, we believe you’ll find great value in contributing to the success of NOHRA.
I look forward to meeting each of you at one of our membership meetings, programs, or events. Together, we can continue building a thriving HR community in Northwest Ohio.
Sincerely,
Holly Newcomer, CEBS, SHRM-CP
President
