Position Title: Payroll Supervisor
Reports To: Payroll Manager
The Payroll Supervisor is responsible for coordinating efforts for all special payments, hourly, salary, and pension payrolls, as well as all related tasks while adhering to strict deadlines. The supervisor will be involved with day-to-day activities of the payroll staff along with regularly assigned processing duties and will keep the manager apprised as situations arise. This role will actively participate in developing, maintaining, and continuously improving procedures and processes concerning all aspects of the payroll department. In addition, the supervisor will work closely with, HR, Treasury, Tax, and Accounting on all payroll-related items.
Responsibilities:
- Direct and coordinate the workflow of payroll activities, and ensure that payroll, taxes, and accounting entries are processed timely and accurately.
- Perform timely analysis of payroll records, reports, and discrepancies in order to resolve problems as quickly as possible.
- Operate as subject matter expert, keep Payroll Manager informed, & escalate items as needed.
- Supervise Payroll Specialists and Interns; assign and evaluate duties, provide constructive feedback, prepare performance reviews & work closely to set goal objectives.
- Maintain high customer service focus, manage effective internal/external client relationships, and continue to build a team environment that encompasses all payroll contributors.
- Quarterly account reconciliations along with tax and year-end preparation as assigned.
- Participate in Payroll projects, both within the department or at plant locations. Being able to share knowledge as well as gain knowledge for the success and advancement of the department.

Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting or related field
- Four to six years of payroll experience in a multi-state environment, with demonstrated supervisory experience.
- Strong customer service orientation, relationship management, project management, problem-solving, and change management skills.
- Work experience with payroll accounting, tax, garnishments, unemployment, and FLSA rules.
- Team player leads by example; demonstrated coaching, mentoring, and conflict resolution skills – Displays a Passion for Winning.
- Exhibit sound judgment, confidentiality, and professionalism in all aspects of the position
- Perform well under pressure, manage multiple assignments and be able to prioritize tasks
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment, while supporting many customers.
- Union payroll experience and ability to interpret union contracts; particularly premium rules.
- Must be able to effectively instruct and educate others on utilizing the software(s), data tools, and union contracts.
- JDE Payroll, Kronos, Ceridian Dayforce experience desired
- Experience creating, interpreting and analyzing reports to drive recommendations and business insights is required (Cognos, Business Objects, and other reporting tool experience is beneficial)
- Proficient PC skills, including Microsoft Office (outlook, PowerPoint, and word). Advanced Excel skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
