Join the team at Gross Electric, a 110-year-old family owned and operated electrical, lighting and safety distributor with 4 locations in NW Ohio and SE Michigan, headquartered in Toledo Ohio. The Human Resources Generalist (HR Generalist) supports and helps implement HR best practices companywide. The HR Generalist coordinates HR practices across all locations: onboarding; performance reviews; work guidelines; continuing education; employee relations and other company initiatives. Additional responsibilities include hiring staff and working with the Controller on pay, benefits and leave processes and policies. The position is part time (25 to 30 hours / week) with a flexible schedule.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assist managers with employee matters.
- Recruit, interview and assist in hiring new staff for each work area/location.
- Implement and direct new hire orientation and onboarding protocols.
- Coordinate performance review process and team member development opportunities.
- Assist with off boarding (terminations, exit interviews)
- Create overall uniformity and consistency in employment practices across all managers/departments/locations.
- Policies and protocols, including COVID type situations
- Work guidelines
- Work with managers to create ongoing training programs applicable to their employees.
- Product, Safety, Cross Department, Technology
- Help in all aspects of Employee Relations
- Assist/manage employee/company events
- Support/coordinate Internal communications
- Promote employee well being
- Assist/create community engagement initiatives
- Other duties and special projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS / EXPERIENCE:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and conflict resolution skills
- Excellent organizational skills

- Strong analytical and problem solving skills
- Ability to effectively work, promote and create a cross functional environment throughout the organization.

- Thorough knowledge of employment related laws and regulations
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
- At least 5 years of human resource experience preferred, HRCI or SHRM certification a plus
- Must be able to sit for prolonged periods at a desk and on a computer
- Must be able to visit all locations and departments
