Velocity is a seeking an experienced Payroll/Time and Attendance Specialist to join our Human Resources team. This is a fulltime salaried position that can work a hybrid schedule of in office and remote work locations.
The Payroll, Time and Attendance Specialist is responsible for coordinating efforts for all hourly, salary, and payroll-related tasks while adhering to strict deadlines. The specialist will be involved with the day-to-day activities of payroll along with regularly assigned processing duties. This role will actively participate in developing, maintaining, and continuously improving procedures and processes concerning all aspects of the company payroll. In addition, the specialist will work closely with, HR and Accounting on all payroll-related items.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities of this position
- Coordinate the workflow of payroll activities, and ensure that payroll, taxes are processed timely and accurately.
- Perform timely analysis of payroll records, reports, and discrepancies to resolve problems, as quickly as possible.
- Operate as subject matter expert.
- Coordinator with HR Director as needed for any issues that need escalation.
- Maintain high customer service focus, manage effective internal/external client relationships, and continue to build a team environment that encompasses all payroll contributors.
- Participate in all Payroll related projects.
- Keep accurate records for all payroll changes (merit increases, adjustments).
- Answer routine time and attendance questions for managers and employees.
- Make accurate corrections to timecards and Inform managers of outstanding timecard issues.
- Audit and close pay period timecards to ensure compliance within company guidelines and policies.
- Track attendance points and support supervisors and management teams with attendance violations issuance.
- Set up time and attendance access for supervisors/managers with direct reports and adjust permissions as needed.
- Provide training to newly assigned supervisors/managers to work within the payroll system to help them adhere to payroll deadlines and navigate timecards.
- Enters and oversees all WC code entries, audits, compliance, and payments.
Ideal candidates will possess the following skillset
- Excellent communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail, with focus on data quality.
- Ability to prioritize when faced with multiple, competing deadlines in a fast-paced work environment.
- Ability to analyze inquiries, identify root cause and suggest process improvements.
- Outstanding customer focus including attributes of empathy, compassion, and service orientation.
- Adaptability/flexibility which includes being open to change and conducting business
- differently.
Requirements for the role
- Two to four years payroll experience in a multi-state environment.
- Associates or Bachelors degree in HR or Accounting is preferred
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and can run several tasks on multiple monitors at your workstation.
- Work experience with payroll accounting, tax, garnishments, unemployment, and FLSA rules.
- Knowledge of federal, state, and local government payroll tax regulations
