SSOE Group is seeking a talented Benefits Specialist for our award-winning Toledo office. This position will be the first line of interface with employees when the HR Managers who service the SBUs are not able to respond to benefit inquiries or claims. The Benefits Specialist will handle all traditional benefit areas and must be willing and able to travel domestically.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assists in the administration of various statutory and non-statutory benefits programs, including, but not limited to: health care plans, disability income plans, life iinsurance plans, long-term care plans, health and wellness programs, health savings accounts and flexible spending accounts for employees in all locations.
- Maintains records and reports information needed to provide sound control of the various programs. Serves as corporate liaison with external parties (i.e. carriers, brokers, vendors, state bureaus, consultants etc.) at the request of the Business Leader, Employee Benefits.
- Audits and processes monthly billing for payment to various carriers.
- Performs data integrity checks on benefits related information.
- Assists employees in resolving disputed claims situations by facilitating information exchange among necessary parties.
- Responds to benefit inquiries from managers and employees on plan provisions, benefits enrollments, status changes and other general inquiries.
- Ensures accuracy of all benefits enrollments in the HRMS to provide vendors with accurate eligibility information.
- Maintains carrier/vendor systems with new hires, terminations and any necessary life status changes.
- Coordinates with third party administrator on the processing and administration of all leave-of-absence requests and disability claims, medical, personal, disability and FMLA.
- Monitors and advises on legislative impact to benefits programs.
- Responds to 401(k) inquiries from managers and employees relating to enrollments, plan changes and contribution amounts.
- Assists in the management of the open enrollment process.
- Conducts the Human Resources portion of new employee orientation.
- Coordinates Health and Wellness Committee meetings and implementation of programs.
- Responsible for the processing of Medical Support Notices, Non-Discrimination and 5500 Testing information.
- Compiles reports and data files as necessary.
- Maintenance of Benefits SharePoint site.
- Travel required.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Bachelor Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration or related area required.
- HR Certification or CEBS preferred.
- Minimum of three years in a Human Resources/ Benefits administration capacity.
- Computer proficiency in prevailing office software required; proficiency in prevailing HRMS (PeopleSoft) preferred.
- Must possess strong interpersonal communication skills, verbal and written.
- Attention to detail and integrity of data required.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline oriented environment required
